中段の蹴り技について
＊ 相手の胴に、当て極めた“中段の脛蹴り（スネケリ）”と“中段の膝蹴り（ヒザケリ）”は、当然、間合いが近く、又、相手が蹴り足を掴んだり、抱きついてきた場合は、其の蹴り技の“強度と効果、それに”極めと残心”を良く確認して有効と認めた技は、“技有り”有効とする。“強度と残心”が不足と認めた技は、“不充分”と宣告する。
＊ 無論、上足底､足甲の蹴りに関しても、その“間合い”、”強度”、“極めと残心“引き技の状態”を、良く確認してから、”有効”か“不充分”か判定を下す様に、注意する事。
＊ 審判は、常に“公平な判断”と“フェア・プレイの精神”を重んじ、己を無にして、真剣に立ち向かう事が大切です。 開祖久高幸利政棋、拳聖十段の教えに、“常に主審は、両選手二人を相手にして、戦う境地で試合に挑み、勘の目を働かせ、攻防の先を読み、的確な判定を下すようにしなければ成りません”と言われていました。
＊ 審判は、二人の選手の三角点の頂点に位置し、両選手の攻防の技術が良く見る様工夫をして、交差足と送り足で敏速に動き、選手がもつれ合ったり、危険と思われる行為を事前に察し、何時でも、跳び込み、“静止”出来る様に、“構えの姿勢、用意（すぐに動作できる状態）“を保つように、万全の態勢を整えておくことが大切です。
＊ 副審も主審同様、“両方の選手を相手に戦いに挑む姿勢“で、”用意の構え，椅子の前方に座り、前かがみ（前屈み）で足を踏ん張り､内股を締め、脇を締め、顎を締めて、真剣な状態で、両選手の攻防の技を読み、勘の目を働かせ、事前に察して、技の判定を、敏速に、迷わず、判断をして、正確な判定を下す様に、紅白の旗を力強く振り示す事が大切です。
＊ 副審が紅白の旗を振る場合は手刀打ち、を打ち込む時の様に、鋭く敏速に振り明確に有効なポイントを示す様に工夫して下さい。

Thoughts on middle level kicking techniques and judging.
The middle level shin kick and middle level knee kick to the Super-Safe (body protector) of the opponent is Yuko (effective and sufficient to score a point) when the kicks are from the right distance and have adequate power, even if the opponent holds the leg after the kick has struck. However, it is Fujubun (not enough to score a point) when the power and Zanshin (perfect completion) are not sufficient.
One must consider the following points for judging: Maai (distance), Kyoudo (power), Kime (finishing), and Zanshin (perfect completion) for both toe kicks and instep kicks.
Referees should always judge matches fairly with a pure mind.
The Founder of Shorinjiryu Kenkokan Karatedo, Kori Hisataka 10th Dan, said that a referee should have the mind to fight with both opponents during the match and read their next movements with opened senses, then make clear judgments.
The referee needs to take a position on the tip of a triangle with the two competitors at the other corner points, and clearly watch the techniques of both competitors. The referee should step quickly with crossed leg steps or sliding steps, and when the competitors collide with each other, the referee should break in to briefly pause the fight and separate the competitors, to avoid dangerous situations.
Same as the referee, the corner referees need to have the mind of fighting with both competitors and sit on the front part of their chairs by holding the leg, inner thigh, side of hands, and jaw tight, reading the next movement of the competitors for proper judgment. Then, they must show their decision by strongly moving the red and white flags. The movement of the flags should be strong and quick, like knife hand strikes.
