＊ そこで、思い出すのは、＊ “袖を掴んでの、攻撃”、
アメリカの、カルフォルニアで開催された第６回世界硬式空手道選手権大会と第２５周年記念全米空手選手権大会を、私、世界硬式空手道連盟，創治者と“アメリカの空手の父”と言われている、ロバート・トリアス師範、全米空手協会の会長と合同で共催し、５０数か国、全米の各州からも選手が集まり、５．０００人余りの参加人数で、ヒルトン・ホテルのコンベンション・ホールで開催した。
輝くシャンデリアの明かりの下、２５の試合場で数日間、夜中の１２過ぎまで試合を続行し、決勝戦・ファイナルは夜中の１時過ぎに始まり、終わったのが確か朝方までかかり、正に世界最大の空手大会でした。
その時、アメリカ中から選ばれた、チャンピオン達、大きなアメリカの選手達が、“天から手を振り下ろし、相手の道着の袖を掴み、引張廻し、上段の突きを連発して、有効技ポイントを取り、各国選手を打ち負かした。幸いにも、団体戦では、若い日本選手団、吉沢亨選手、久高寛司選手、吉村選手、宮崎武親選手等が活躍し、歴代のアメリカ・チャンピオン達を相手に、袖を掴んで来るところ、又掴ませて、逆に中段蹴りと中段突きの連続技で、見事打ち負かし勝利を得たことは、本家日本の空手道の名誉を挽回する事が出来ました。
既に数十年前に、全日本学生空手チームが、アメリカに遠征し、ハワイ空手チームと引き分け、カルフォルニア空手チームに負けてしまい、アメリカの空手家達は、日本の空手を余り評価せず、問題にしていなかつたので日本の空手にとり、快挙な出来事でした。
其の後毎年全米空手選手権のチャンピオン達が、日本の東京にある少林寺流拳行館空手総本部道場に来て、熱心に研修し交換試合を行い親善交流を行いました。

A memory of the technique of holding an opponent’s sleeve to execute a throw.
When the 6th World Koshiki Karate Championship and 25 year memorial Karate tournament was held at the Hilton Hotel, California by the founder of Koshiki Karatedo (myself), and Shihan Robert Torias who is a pioneer of American Karate, over 5,000 competitors attended from all over the United States.
Due to such a large number of competitors, the tournament used 25 match courts for several days.
The matches were continued past midnight and the final and semi-final matches ended almost in the early morning. It was the largest tournament in the world.
Many big and strong American champions who were selected through local competitions used a technique of holding the opponent’s sleeve and pulling to break the balance, then scoring points with Jodan-tsuki (upper level punch). They used the technique of holding the sleeve effectively, to win their matches over other teams.
The young Japanese team of Ryo Yoshizawa, Hiroshi Hisataka, Yoshimura, and Takechika Miyazaki bravely fought against them and scored points by combination techniques of middle level punches and middle kicks after the Americans grabbed their sleeves, and won the team Kumite. The young Japanese team maintained the honor for Japan as the home country of Karate.
Before the Tournament, other Japanese University teams fought against Hawaiian and American teams and could not win, so American Karateka did not expect such a strong performance from the Japanese team. After seeing such a strong performance and learning techniques from the Japanese team, many American champions came every year thereafter for study and exchange at the Shorinjryu Kenkokan Karate Honbu Dojo in Tokyo.
