拳サポーターの影響で、突きを審判が正確に判定できなくなりつつある。
正しい間合い、タイミング、角度で技が極まっていても、拳サポーターの影響で強打しか技ありを審判が取らない傾向が強い。
拳サポーターを着用していると正確に突きが極まっても音がしない。極まっていても技ありをとってくれない、強打しかとらいないと、選手は拳を振り回すようになる、より強く当てようとバランスを崩し引き(残心)がなくなる。これでは見ていてキックボクシングのような撃ち合いになる。見た目にも間合いを攻めぎあう空手独特のスリリングな展開にはならない。
素手素足の試合では音が重要で、拳足は目のスピードより速く音は審判の重要な判定の基準にもなる。残念ながら審判の技術がまだ発展途上のため、拳サポーターの試合では、出るはずのない音も判定の基準になってしまうことが多々あった。
加えてノンコンタクトからのルールの流れで、先取り判定が多くなってしまうのも残念です。硬式空手のルールの長所は加点方式であるということ、一連の攻防の中での返し技も、連続技も認めるという所である。
先手のみ技ありを取って、返し技に対応できない、目をつぶる、そして5点差で試合が終了してしまうと、捨て身技、最後の最後まで緊張感のある一本技で勝敗が決する試合も少なくなる。
元硬式空手無差別級全日本チャンピオンの打田直寛先生の大会後の好評の中で空手本来の突き技をもっと見られるといいという発言が印象に残りました。
防具を着用することで、空手本来の正拳突き、手刀などの多彩な打技も試合で使えるようになった。もう一度原点に帰り、拳を鍛え上げて、技を見直して磨き上げて欲しいものである。

The use of protective hand covering in karate matches makes it difficult for referees to judge correctly.
There are cases where referees do not properly judge and award points for right distance, timing and angle because of the usage of protective hand coverings. Such gloves do not make a clear sound on contact, so referees have difficulty to judge correctly. In addition, competitors may hit strongly without pulling back the fist, and not properly break the opponent’s balance or take a proper zanshin position afterwards. With protective hand equipment or gloves, punches become similar to kickboxing, and participants cannot enjoy proper Koshiki Karatedo matches involving proper distance and techniques.
The sounds of hitting and kicking directly are important elements of judging because the movement of hands and feet is often faster than the eye can see. This is one reason why bare hands and feet are important, because of the clear sounds they make. In addition, the use of protective equipment on hands and feet can create misleading sounds which can lead to misjudgement.
On another note, in non-contact karate, we sometimes have the problem of points being awarded only for the first attack, without points for second attacks or counters by the opponent.
A key feature of Koshiki Contact Karate is the awarding of points for both attacks and counterattacks, thereby simulating true combat. If points are awarded only for the first attack such as in non-contact karate, then the match can end quickly without allowing participants to taste the true meaning of combat.
Shihan Naohiro Uchida, former All Japan Champion of Koshiki Contact Karate, commented at the end of a recent tournament that we need more aggressive original Karate punches.
By using the Super-Safe protectors, we can train a variety of Karate techniques by attacking directly. I would like to recommend students to build stronger fists and hit directly with bare hands, thereby understanding the purpose of Koshiki Contact Karate.
