現在、世界で空手の修行者は、５，０００万人以上と云われており、多くの空手団体が有ります。

例えば、ロシアでは、コンタクト（硬式）空手＜ＷＫＫF＞の団体が、一番大きく、二番三番が極真系の団体とノン・コンタクト（寸止め）空手＜ＷＫF＞と三つの団体が空手の統一団体として国で認められています。

アゼルバイジャンでは、六つの空手の団体が、協力して一つの空手団体として、国が認めており、世界で一番空手が盛んな国として活動しています。

空手発祥の国、日本では、防具、コンタクト（当てる）空手の団体が、最初に出来、その後、ノン・コンタクト（寸止め）の団体が結成され、又極真空手の団体が生まれ，共に広く普及しています。

日本の東京武道館で開催された、＜ＷＵＫO＞の第４回世界空手選手権大会の時、将来オリンピックを目指し、より安全で、勝敗が誰にでも判る公平で明確な競技法の確立をする事を決議した。

そこで全日本空手道連盟（会長笹川良一）の技術研究委員会（元老、和道流開祖大塚博文師範、元老、王統流開祖玉得博栄師範，糸東流最高師範岩田万蔵師範、剛柔会理事長香川治義師範等など各流派の最高師範達）が実行することに成り、少林寺流拳行館主席師範の久高正之空観、範士九段が責任担当し、画期的な安全具スーパーセーフ・プロテクタ―を考案開発し、どの空手の流派も公平に参加出来、空手の技を実際に当てる、突き、蹴り、打つことが可能な硬式（コンタクト）空手競技法を創案した。

そして、ドイツのシュットガルトで開催されたＷＵＫＯの理事会、審判委員会議で、空手の技術が生かされ、安全に試合競技が出来る最も優れたプロテクターで有ると認められ、今後、各国のこれからの空手競技会で、積極的に使用していく事が決議された。　

日本国内では、全国高等学校空手道連盟が、いち早くスーパー・セーフ・プロテクターの採用を決め、防具試合と寸止め（ノン・コンタクト）試合を硬式（コンタクト）試合ルールで統一して、高体連に参加するため、各地区の指導者に、審判講習会を行う準備を始めていた。

同時期に、モスクワ・オリンピックより、空手競技の参加招待が有り、長年の夢の実現と、飛び上がるほど喜んだが、つかの間、当時のアメリカの大統領、ジミー・カーター大統領がモスコウ・オリンピックをボイコット、残念ながら日本もアメリカに習いボイコットしたことにより空手競技（コンタクト・カラテ・ルール）がオリンピック正式種目としての参加の絶好の機会が失われ、夢が打ち砕かれた。

その後、純粋にコンタクト（硬式）空手を世界に発展普及するには、ＷＵＫOから独立したコンタクト（硬式）空手の団体を組織して、１９８０年１１月１８日、日本東京の国立代々木体育館に１０カ国を招待し、第一回の国際親善コンタクト（硬式）空手道選手権大会を開催致しました。　

テレビ東京・１２チャンネルのサンデイ・スポーツ番組で、１時間３０分に渡り、全国に放映され、国内はもとより海外各国に一大センセ－ショナルを巻き起こした事は、近代スポーツ競技としての空手道競技（コンタクト・カラテ・ル－ル）を発表する事が出来、将来、オリンピック・スポーツとして参加出来るように、また、人と社会に健康文化として発展普及させ、社会貢献出来るよう努力精進する事を誓い合いました。

There are many Karate schools and over 5 million Karatekas around the world.

For instance, there are three officially recognized Karate organizations in Russia. The largest is Contact Karate (WKKF), and the second and third largest are Kyokushin and Non-Contact Karate (WKF) respectively. In Azerbaijan, six Karate organizations cooperate with each other, and one Karate organization is officially recognized. Karate continues to be widely popular around the world.

In Japan, the original home of Karate, first Contact Karate with safety protection developed, and then Non-Contact and Kyokushin Karate developed.
When the Forth World Karatedo Tournament (WUKO) opened at the Tokyo Budo-Kan in Japan, it was determined to develop a new safety Karate tournament system where the audience could easily understand the match results.
Then, with the Technical Committee of the All Japan Karate Association (with Chairman Ryoichi Sasagawa), So-Shihan Masayuki Kukan Hisataka, 9th dan Hanshi, of the Shorinjiryu Kenkokan Karate, had responsibility to develop a new Safety Protector that every style of Karate could compete equally with actual punching and kicking in Contact Karate.

The Safety Protector was recognized by the committee and referee meeting of the WUKO in Germany as the most suitable equipment for competition for every style of Karate. It was decided that the Safety Protector should be used for Contact Karate tournaments.

In Japan, the All Japan High School Karate Federation decided to use the Safety Protector (Super Safe), and made efforts through seminars with local leaders to use the Super Safe in the High School Sport Association.
Around the same time, Karate was invited as an Olympic game by the Moscow Olympic committee, but Japan boycotted the Olympics along with the USA. As a result, we lost a great opportunity to make Karate as an Olympic game.

For the future great success of Contact Karate, we separated from the WUKO as an independent Contact Karate Federation, then held the First International Contact (Koshiki) Karate Friendship Tournament at the National Yoyogi Gymnasium in Tokyo Japan on November 18th 1980, inviting many competitors from 10 counties.
The tournament was on Tokyo T.V. for 90 minutes and widely introduced Contact Karate. That was a great step to introduce the rules of Koshiki Karate not only in Japan but also to the World. We would like to work together with Karateka from around the world to make Koshiki (Contact) Karate as an Olympic game.
